Conquering the Shadowworld - Cirith Gorgor

Wandering draped in smothered moonlight

Distant memories consume my mind

Amidst these blackened ancient woods

The profound smell of grievance slumbers

Unfolding dreams seem vague but still

As the fields of old draw near

And these mountains I still recognise

(Bloodstained memories emerge)

«I see a maiden, young and fair, falling lifeless to the ground

A gleam once touched her face and hair yet now is nowhere to be found

Slain by black, audacious steel, her earthly ties are torn

Hatred chose her fate to seal through this malicious scorn»

A flash turns fire into stone

The gruesome dark of night weighs stronger

Striding forth through veils of fog

Unable to conquer my shadowworld

A sudden outburst lights the sky

Reveals the tortured ground I stand

Once again my body trembles

And longhidden visions come to mind

«I see her face cast into stone, engraved in darkness since that day

Under a moon so blue and roan her purest splendour fades away

But behold a cosmic sign as swirling clouds pass by

A new-born, bright star burns in line and lightens up the astral sky»

After all these years that passed

Here over the fields of old

I stumble upon an ancient stone

The air around it dead and cold

Suddenly all is clear to me

As the shadowworld opens its gates once more

Vagando avvolti nella luce lunare soffocata

I ricordi lontani consumano la mia mente

In mezzo a questi antichi boschi anneriti

L'odore profondo del dolore si addormenta

I sogni dispiegati sembrano vaghi ma fermi

Mentre i campi antichi si avvicinano

E queste montagne le riconosco ancora

(Emergono ricordi macchiati di sangue)

«Vedo una fanciulla, giovane e bella, cadere a terra senza vita

Un bagliore una volta le ha toccato il viso e i capelli, ma ora non si trova da nessuna parte

Uccisa dall'acciaio nero e audace, i suoi legami terreni sono strappati

L'odio ha scelto il suo destino per sigillare questo disprezzo malizioso»

Un lampo trasforma il fuoco in pietra

Il raccapricciante buio della notte pesa più forte

Avanzando a grandi passi attraverso veli di nebbia

Impossibile conquistare il mio mondo ombra

Un improvviso sfogo illumina il cielo

Rivela il terreno torturato in cui mi trovo

Ancora una volta il mio corpo trema

E mi vengono in mente visioni a lungo nascoste

«Vedo il suo volto scolpito nella pietra, scolpito nelle tenebre da quel giorno

Sotto una luna così azzurra e roca il suo più puro splendore svanisce

Ma guarda un segno cosmico mentre passano nuvole vorticose

Una stella luminosa appena nata arde in linea e illumina il cielo astrale»

Dopo tutti questi anni che sono passati

Qui sui campi del vecchio

Mi imbatto in un'antica pietra

L'aria intorno è morta e fredda

Improvvisamente tutto mi è chiaro

Mentre il mondo ombra apre le sue porte ancora una volta
