She’s a snip

just a snip

making dreadful childish noise

having fun with all her toys

just a chickity who needs her mother hen

she’s a cub

a popouse

you could never turn her loose

she’s so infentile to take her from her pen

of course

that weekend in treveel

inspite of all her youthful zeal

she was exceeding polite

and on the whole a sheer delight

and if it joy galore

at least not once was she was a bore

that I recall

no not at all

But she’s a girl!

A silly girl!

adolescent to her toes

good heaven how it shows

sticking thumbs or all the fingers she has got

she’s a girl

a clumsy girl

she’s as swollen as a grape

she doesn’t have a shape

where her figure ought to be it is not

shes a girl

a growing girl

but so backwards for her years

if a boy her age appears

I am certain he would never call again

she’s a scamp

and a brat

doesn’t know where she is at

unequiped and undesirable to men

of course

I must in truth confess

that in that brand new little dress

she looked surprisingly mature

and a definite alure

it was a shock infact to me

a most amazing shock to see

the way it clung

on one so young

But she’s a girl!

A little girl!

Growing older it is true

which is what they always do

until that unxepected hour until they blossom

like a flower

facendo un terribile rumore infantile

divertirsi con tutti i suoi giocattoli

solo una pulcino che ha bisogno di sua madre chioccia

lei è un cucciolo

un popolo

non potresti mai liberarla

è così infertile da prenderla dalla sua penna

quel fine settimana a Treveel

nonostante tutto il suo zelo giovanile

era estremamente gentile

e nel complesso una vera delizia

e se è gioia in abbondanza

almeno non una volta era una noia

che ricordo

no per niente

Ma è una ragazza!

Una ragazza sciocca!

adolescente in punta di piedi

buon cielo come si vede

infilando i pollici o tutte le dita che ha

è una ragazza

una ragazza goffa

è gonfia come un'uva

non ha una forma

dove la sua figura dovrebbe essere non lo è

lei è una ragazza

una ragazza in crescita

ma così indietro per i suoi anni

se compare un ragazzo della sua età

Sono certo che non chiamerà mai più

lei è una scampagnata

e un moccioso

non sa dove si trova

non equipaggiato e indesiderabile per gli uomini

Devo in verità confessare

quello con quel vestitino nuovo di zecca

sembrava sorprendentemente matura

e un fascino definitivo

è stato uno shock per me

uno shock incredibile da vedere

il modo in cui si è aggrappato

su uno così giovane

Ma è una ragazza!

Una piccola ragazza!

Invecchiando è vero

che è quello che fanno sempre

fino a quell'ora imprevista finché non sbocciano

come un fiore
