Overthinking - Dead Silent

Don’t know how this night turned around so quick

Back in town in the whip, then you bounced

Thinking about it now I feel so sick

Call me back please to keep me posted

Sitting in my Pontiac at the lake

Thinking back to our accolades

We were just fine, now concerned bout our fate

Hoping inside your heart I’m reserved a place

Sad to say that we’re back in a bad debate

Not even mad, I’m just half awake

And too stressed to be dealing with this right now

Before I make a mess, let me vent and just write down

What do I say on the mic? Feels like we’re on timeout

Didn’t mean to yell, I’m alright now

God I’m so drained, I might wipe out

Too much on my plate

So I might throw anybody in front of me, sorry if you’re in the street

I had a couple of other people that want a couple things

And now a bunch of them suddenly wanna be coming at me

And cause nobody’s really listening I say what I mean

You caught me out of my element

What you said hit me close to home

I got a couple of skeletons hanging with me out here on the road

Close pals since ‘98

We had a whole lot of time to waste

Didn’t show until now, don’t know why they waited

My pride is taken

Am I wide awake? I can’t tell

I’m just addressing my elephants

In the zoo of my mind, it’s a thrill

Used to take pills to stay chill

But since I been off of them they only make me feel like

What are we doing

We might’ve just made a huge mistake

What to do, I don’t know

Last night we just threw it away

What you said last night just stuck with me

Sitting in my car still wondering

Just me overthinking like everything

All I wanted was to keep the peace

But freeze up when you tell me «don't speak to me»

I know you need to breathe

I won’t tweak

Cause I know if you’re dropping the bomb, it’s gonna be this week

And tonight I won’t sleep knowing that fact

I don’t remember how this got that bad

How much longer can we feed the beast

About now he’s grinning cheek to cheek

I’m three feet below

I’m done digging my grave

Trying to keep my composure

In this adrenaline state

Who’s really calling the shots

Starting over, let me get a new page

Party’s over, no confetti or cake

Got a confession to make, yeah this might be our last night

Folding in on ourselves like we jackknifed

Well that’s fine

I guess this last year was just to pass time

It came and it passed by

It’s not like we never batted an eye

And our relationship still hasn’t happened to die

But it has been a minute since we ever had time

And now it’s so watered down we might as well add rice

Ran out of gas at the fork in the road
