Yo', my friend’s Sister told me she don’t wanna work for the white man

Not even if the possibility

Or a slight chance of improving her life was right there for taking

She would rather sit back and be vacant

Ain’t no mistaking that I’m trying to get my head round the statement

It’s complicated, see I understand that people need payment

And have been patient, trying to move towards their future but facing

discrimination

Even though they got they qualifications from education

I asked these young brothers who were chillin on my block

What they saw themselves becoming as a kid growing up

They replied saying they saw themselves as bank managers

But all that they were doing everyday was smoking cannabis

And eating fried chicken, leaving bones on my doorstep

And couldn’t see the point in even taking a small step to something greater

I tried to talk, I try to teach em', couldn’t reach em'

Now the sound of the police has got em' fighting for they freedom

You best believe it, I’m trying to get down to the reasons

I’m noticing a surge of Europeans in my neighbourhood

That’s when I really started to notice that every geographical place will get

its prognosis

I’ve heard black women tell me they ain’t dating no black men

Because it didn’t work with a handful way back when

Now each to his own, but I find it disheartening

And I heard your counter-argument about some brothers targeting

Women the same way, but exactly the same

I am disheartened by these juvenile games that people play

Now this really got me thinking bout' who I am in society

How do people view me when there is so much variety?

Everyday succumbing to someone stereotyping me

Color of my skin the only thing why they disliking me?

When I spend my money that’s when they forced to be nice to me

Taxi driver tells me he charging a different price to me

Because we black brothers and so he found me tolerable

I told him that ain’t ethical, conscientious or honourable

You gotta come better than that

He thought about what I was saying and conceded the fact

And I don’t wanna have to do him like that

But see the truth is the truth and karma got a way of coming right back

So from the stand up people to the ones that are bogus

È complicato, vedi, capisco che le persone hanno bisogno di un pagamento

E sono stati pazienti, cercando di andare verso il loro futuro ma affrontando

discriminazione

Anche se hanno ottenuto qualifiche dall'istruzione

Ho chiesto a questi giovani fratelli che si stavano rilassando nel mio blocco

Quello che si vedevano diventare da bambini

Hanno risposto dicendo che si consideravano direttori di banca

Ma tutto ciò che facevano ogni giorno era fumare cannabis

E mangiare pollo fritto, lasciando le ossa sulla soglia di casa

E non vedevo il senso nemmeno fare un piccolo passo verso qualcosa di più grande

Ho provato a parlare, cerco di insegnargli, non sono riuscito a contattarli'

Ora il suono della polizia li ha fatti combattere per la loro libertà

È meglio che tu ci creda, sto cercando di scendere ai motivi

Sto notando un'ondata di europei nel mio quartiere

È stato allora che ho iniziato davvero a notare che ogni luogo geografico otterrà

la sua prognosi

Ho sentito donne nere dirmi che non stanno uscendo con uomini di colore

Perché non ha funzionato con una manciata di anni fa

Ora ognuno a suo modo, ma lo trovo scoraggiante

E ho sentito la tua contro-argomentazione su alcuni fratelli che prendono di mira

Le donne allo stesso modo, ma esattamente allo stesso modo

Sono scoraggiato da questi giochi per ragazzi a cui le persone giocano

Ora questo mi ha fatto davvero pensare a chi sono nella società

Come mi vedono le persone quando c'è così tanta varietà?

Ogni giorno soccombere a qualcuno che mi stereotipa

Il colore della mia pelle è l'unica cosa per cui non gli piaccio?

Quando spendo i miei soldi è quando sono costretti a essere gentili con me

Il tassista mi dice che mi fa pagare un prezzo diverso

Perché noi fratelli neri e così mi trovò tollerabile

Gli ho detto che non è etico, coscienzioso o onorevole

Devi venire meglio di così

Ha pensato a quello che stavo dicendo e ha ammesso il fatto

E non voglio doverlo fare in quel modo

Ma vedere la verità è la verità e il karma ha un modo per tornare indietro

Quindi dalle persone in piedi a quelle che sono fasulle

Tutti giocheranno la loro prognosi
