Life after Dennison, where do I begin?

A fresh start

So I’m focusing on where I’m going, not where I’ve been

I got my own apartment now, my ex helped me decorate

I put the carpet down, cream sofas, cream curtains

Spent a few thousand pounds over every expense

A little worried bout' stability and paying the rent

Because this music game is unstable, around that time my label

Was getting ready to increase the timetable of releases

Cos now I could record without the sound

Of my Step-Mother on the phone talking fucking loud

Messing up my recordings, now I’m waking every morning

No more Pops trying to call me and sending me to the store

Focused on what’s important cos I’m trying reach the next level

Let’s go and double this money, fuck it lets get treble

It’s coming up to 2006 and J Dilla’s still alive

I’m still taking these trips to Japan

And doing sold out shows for all the fans

Next I’m trying to get to Midem in Cannes and making plans

I’m a force to be reckoned with

Cos every second this beat-making-rhyme-slaying kid

Was infected with the passion for this hip-hop shit and making moves

I got this new found freedom, cos I’m out on my own

With many albums to complete, I’m trying to make em' in peace

That the place that I was living had some super high quotas of deprivation

I got a couple years until I’m reaching thirty years old

It’s like somebody took a knife and cut a whole in my purse

And now this vinyl ain’t selling like it used to sell

People downloading more and more for free, I’m losing sales

And now it’s 2008 and the world is in recession

So it’s harder to create these releases

Quindi mi sto concentrando su dove sto andando, non su dove sono stato

E fare spettacoli sold out per tutti i fan

Poi sto cercando di raggiungere il Midem di Cannes e fare progetti

Sono una forza da non sottovalutare

Perché ogni secondo questo ragazzo ammazza rime che fa battute

È stato contagiato dalla passione per questa merda hip-hop e per le mosse

Con totale disprezzo per chiunque disapprovi

I giorni di Dennison alle mie spalle

Quindi ora mi accendo a percorrere questo capitolo della mia vita come un ladro nella notte

Non sono più al 5° piano

Un posto diverso, più spazio è ciò che desideravo

Sono notturno, quindi non sei andato a prendermi alla luce

Ho ottenuto questa nuova libertà ritrovata, perché sono fuori da solo

Sto scrivendo più testi che mai, sputali sul telefono

E facendo ritmi, non ho tempo per stare in strada

Con molti album da completare, sto cercando di farli in pace

Ma poi la cosa successiva che ho sentito è stata che questo ragazzo è stato assassinato, cazzo

E aveva solo quattordici anni, è allora che me ne sono accorto

Che il posto in cui stavo vivendo aveva delle quote altissime di privazione

Disoccupazione, salute mentale e abuso di droghe

Mendicanti agli angoli, ogni giorno sono dei bugiardi

Quindi ho dovuto tenermi per me stesso

Perché uscire dalla mia porta potrebbe essere abbastanza da sopraffare

Tuttavia, devo rimanere positivo e mantenere una presa

Perché tutto ciò che è esterno è qualcosa che non posso controllare

Ho un paio di anni prima di raggiungere i trent'anni

E posso cambiare la mia situazione se mi attengo ai miei obiettivi

Ma in basso ed ecco, il business della musica ha preso una svolta per il peggio

È come se qualcuno prendesse un coltello e ne tagliasse un intero nella mia borsa

E ora questo vinile non sta vendendo come vendeva prima

Le persone che scaricano sempre di più gratuitamente, sto perdendo le vendite

E ora è il 2008 e il mondo è in recessione

Quindi è più difficile creare queste versioni

Ma suppongo che devo tenermi stretto
