The sons of Africa wanted to walk

An adventure that took them far away from the frontiers of the continent

An adventure that taught them how things work elsewhere

Before, we welcomed the whole world with our Innate sense of hospitality,

in dignity and nobility

We walked but when we wanted to enter their door Those in Ceuta told us:

«We don’t have your innate sense of hospitality»

The sons of Africa returned home, saying:

Better an ugly woman than an empty room Because they’d heard that invaluable

help had been offered to them there

But they’ve had enough of empty promises

Poverty will be Africa’s destiny

Corruption will be Africa’s destiny

Governments will always get stuck in the sand Africa is destined for war,

for genocide

Until the United Nations in their development programmes

Decide to help Africa to:

Reduce its poverty

Reduce its AIDS pandemic

Reduce the death of its children

Reduce what Mother Africa owes to others

Broken promises, of equity, solidarity

The illusion is false, even if the dream is allowed

Africa will make its own way, after a fashion, because

I figli dell'Africa volevano camminare

Un'avventura che li ha portati lontano dalle frontiere del continente

Un'avventura che ha insegnato loro come funzionano le cose altrove

Prima abbiamo accolto il mondo intero con il nostro innato senso di ospitalità,

in dignità e nobiltà

Abbiamo camminato ma quando abbiamo voluto entrare dalla loro porta quelli di Ceuta ci hanno detto:

«Non abbiamo il tuo innato senso di ospitalità»

I figli dell'Africa tornarono a casa, dicendo:

Meglio una donna brutta che una stanza vuota, perché avevano sentito dire che aveva un valore inestimabile

era stato offerto loro un aiuto lì

Ma ne hanno abbastanza di promesse vuote

La povertà sarà il destino dell'Africa

La corruzione sarà il destino dell'Africa

I governi rimarranno sempre bloccati nella sabbia che l'Africa è destinata alla guerra,

per genocidio

Fino alle Nazioni Unite nei loro programmi di sviluppo

Decidi di aiutare l'Africa a:

Riduci la sua povertà

Ridurre la sua pandemia di AIDS

Riduci la morte dei suoi figli

Riduci ciò che Madre Africa deve agli altri

Promesse non mantenute, di equità, solidarietà

L'illusione è falsa, anche se il sogno è permesso

L'Africa farà la sua strada, in un modo, perché

Il mio orgoglio nero si chiamerà sempre «Mambo» E siamo tutti sulla stessa barca
