The city is quick, some parts are cruel

And pretty people walk all around my school

The city looks like New York did in '63

Every sight I see is like a fairytale to me

The city wouldn’t lock my mama’s home

Even when it rains I sit alone

And I try to write myself a proper poem

But when the city gets on there’ll be

Plenty of places to

The city’s scared, the city’s white

At night they shine these swirlin' lights

The city is black and sometimes it gets blue

But the city just keeps on goin' so I’ll keep on too

The city told maybe go find a friend

And watch the way that our colors blend

To bid goodbye to the past though it’s not the end

But the city don’t care if I ever see you again

La città è veloce, alcune parti sono crudeli

E belle persone camminano per tutta la mia scuola

La città assomiglia a New York nel '63

Ogni spettacolo che vedo è come una fiaba per me

La città non chiuderebbe a chiave la casa di mia mamma

Anche quando piove mi siedo da solo

E provo a scrivermi una poesia vera e propria

Ma quando la città salirà, ci sarà

Un sacco di posti in cui

La città ha paura, la città è bianca

Di notte accendono queste luci vorticose

La città è nera e talvolta diventa blu

Ma la città continua ad andare avanti, quindi continuerò anche io

La città ha detto che forse vai a cercare un amico

E guarda come si fondono i nostri colori

Per dire addio al passato anche se non è la fine

Ma alla città non importa se ti vedrò mai più
