She walks in beauty,

Which waves in every raven tress

Or softly lightens o’er her face.

Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

Lei cammina nella bellezza,

come la notte di climi senza nuvole e cieli stellati.

E tutto ciò che c'è di meglio di scuro e luminoso

Incontra nel suo aspetto e nei suoi occhi,

Così dolce a quella tenera luce,

Quanto è pura, quanto è cara la loro dimora.

E su quella guancia, e su quella fronte,

Così morbido, così calmo, eppure eloquente,

I sorrisi che vincono, le tinte che brillano,

Ma racconta giorni di bontà trascorsi,

Una mente in pace con tutto sotto,

Un cuore il cui amore è innocente!
