Faire is the Heaven - Tenebrae

Faire is the heaven where happy soules have place

In full enjoyment of felicitie;

Whence they do still behold the glorious face

Of the Divine, Eternall Majestie;

Yet farre more faire be those bright Cherubins

Which all with golden wings are overdight

And those eternall burning Seraphins

Which from their faces dart out fiery light;

Yet fairer than they both and much more bright

Be the Angels and Archangels

Which attend on God’s owne person without rest or end

These then in faire each other farre excelling

As to the Highest they approach more neare

Yet is that Highest farre beyond all telling

Fairer than all the rest which there appeare

Though all their beauties joynd together were;

How then can mortal tongue hope to expresse

The image of such endlesse perfectnesse?

Faire è il paradiso in cui hanno posto le anime felici

Nel pieno godimento della felicità;

Donde vedono ancora il volto glorioso

Della Divina, Eterna Maestà;

Eppure molto più faire sono quei luminosi Cherubini

Che tutti con le ali d'oro sono sconsiderati

E quegli eterni Serafini ardenti

Che dai loro volti escono luce ardente;

Eppure più giusti di entrambi e molto più brillanti

Siate gli angeli e gli arcangeli

Che assistono alla persona di Dio senza sosta né fine

Questi poi in faire l'un l'altro farre eccellere

Quanto all'Altissimo, si avvicinano di più

Eppure è che il più alto farre oltre ogni dire

Più giusto di tutto il resto che ci appare

Sebbene tutte le loro bellezze gioissero insieme;

Come può allora la lingua mortale sperare di esprimersi

L'immagine di tale perfezione infinita?
