I see the snow on the street

It’s turnin' black round my feet

A radio tells me more’s on the way

A Santa Claus rings his bell

He has an old mothball smell

With a faint whiff of cheap Chardonnay

Christmas in the shelter

Never thought I’d see

Some of last year’s tinsel

On a scrawny Christmas tree

Here it comes again

But where’s the peace on earth

And goodwill to all men

Oh the carols sound sweet

When you’ve plenty to eat

And your plates piled as high as you like

But it’s a whole different tune

When a soup kitchen spoon

Is dishing your dinner tonight
