Well I left my friends and family in dust late one night as I headed up the

coast for somethin new

Said my life felt awful tangled all around me I felt strangled by the weight of

expectations on me too

Now I’m walkin down the highway with a sign said going my way hoping someone

with a big hearts drivin thru

Just then a car pull up real slowly I said,

God bless you sir you saved me my names me what do I have the pleasure of

calling you

He said now where you headin I’m a travlin man myself I come from Nashville I’m

a dobro pickin man

And I play sweet bluegrass music although it hasn’t brought me wealth

it keeps my soul alive and keeps my spirit free

Well I told him I was headin for the first town that looked good I have no

commitments to the life I used to rule

Then Hatti chuckled softly said his house was in the Rockies I could stay for

free for just a week or two

Well we drove to Colorado goin 80 miles an hour stoppin only to relieve our

human needs

And he started up a fire made a stew to eat for dinner then he plucked his

dobro flat across his knee

Now take this here guitar you see and pluck those strings as fast as me

And soon you’ll play sweet bluegrass like a king

Well I strummed that thing both day and night and practiced till my fingers died

We only stopped to eat and go to sleep

Few months had passed before my eyes the music soon became our lives we formed

a band and started playin shows

The crowds at first were thin and few but soon the crowds filled up and grew

We sold out every show we showed up to

Well I woke early one mornin couldn’t hear sweet Hatti snorin so I went outside

to see where he could be

I didn’t know where he was gone till a couple weeks went by and then I knew he

was helpin angels find their feet

mantiene viva la mia anima e libera il mio spirito

Beh, gli ho detto che ero diretto alla prima città che sembrava bella, non ne ho

impegni per la vita che ero solito governare

Poi Hatti ridacchiò sommessamente dicendo che la sua casa era nelle Montagne Rocciose per cui potevo rimanere

gratis solo per una settimana o due

Bene, siamo andati in Colorado andando a 80 miglia all'ora fermandoci solo per alleviare il nostro

E ha acceso un fuoco, ha preparato uno stufato da mangiare per cena, poi ha spennato il suo

dobro piatto sul ginocchio

Ora prendi questa chitarra che vedi e pizzica quelle corde alla stessa velocità di me

E presto suonerai il dolce bluegrass come un re

Beh, ho strimpellato quella cosa sia di giorno che di notte e mi sono esercitato fino a quando le mie dita non sono morte

Ci siamo fermati solo per mangiare e andare a dormire

Erano passati pochi mesi prima che i miei occhi la musica diventasse presto le nostre vite che formavamo

una band e ha iniziato a suonare nei concerti
