Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and with fear and trembling stand;

Ponder nothing earthly minded, For with blessing is His hand,

Christ our God to earth descendeth, Our full homage to demand.

King of Kings, Yet born of Mary, As of old earth He stood,

Lord of Lords, In human vesture, In the body and the blood;

He will give to all the faithful.

His own self for heavenly food.

Rank on rank the host of heaven spreads it’s vanguard on the way,

As Light of light descendeth from the realms of endless day,

That the powers of hell may vanish as the darkness clears away.

At His feet the six-winged seraph, Cherubim, With sleeples eye,

Veil their faces to His presence as with ceaseless voice they cry:

Lord Most High!

Fa che tutta la carne mortale taccia, e con timore e tremore stia in piedi;

Non meditare su nulla di terrena, poiché con benedizione è la sua mano,

Cristo nostro Dio sulla terra discende, il nostro pieno omaggio a chiedere.

Re dei re, eppure nato da Maria, si fermò come di vecchia terra,

Signore dei Signori, in veste umana, nel corpo e nel sangue;

Darà a tutti i fedeli.

Se stesso per il cibo celeste.

Classifica dopo grado la schiera di cieli si diffonde è l'avanguardia in arrivo,

Come la luce della luce discende dai regni del giorno infinito,

Che i poteri dell'inferno possano svanire mentre l'oscurità si dirada.

Ai suoi piedi il serafino dalle sei ali, Cherubini, dall'occhio dormiente,

Velare i loro volti alla Sua presenza mentre con voce incessante gridano:
