The Talking Manatee - Jim Morris

I was on my boat this morning

And heard a voice call out to me

Up there near the mangroves

Was a talking manatee

He said Jim it’s good to see you

On water everyday

And if you’ve got a minute

I’ve got some things to say

I’ve been up Crystal River

That’s the place I love the most

And I winter in Charlotte Harbor

And I’ve checked out every coast

Your land is full of highways

With buildings everywhere

You humans are crazy people

You’re much too busy way up there

You see I’ve been observant

But I don’t need no satellite dish

I play dodge boat every morning

Then I go drinking with the fish

And I’m in to healthy living

I eat salads every day

You may thing I’m a little chubby

But I’m supposed to be that way

I swam all the way from Tampa Bay to Mosquito

Lagoon

I was floating by Cape Canaveral

When those guys went to the moon

You drive on parkways and park in driveways

It sure seems nuts to me

You humans are crazy people

About as silly as can be

I said, Mr. Manatee you’re a smart one

But before you have to go

There’s this piece of information

That everyone wants to know

He said, you know, they say we taste like chicken

Buy I don’t think that’s true

A big ol' bull shark told me

That we taste a lot like you

He said try to take it easy

Take pleasure in every day

Try some grouper therapy

Or go sailing on the bay

Spend less time in all that traffic

Don’t go speeding everywhere

You humans are crazy people

You’re much too busy way up there

Take it easy way up there

Stamattina ero sulla mia barca

Ma dovrei essere così

Ho nuotato da Tampa Bay a Mosquito

Laguna

Stavo galleggiando vicino a Cape Canaveral

Quando quei ragazzi sono andati sulla luna

Guidi su strade e parcheggi nei vialetti

Sicuramente mi sembra pazzesco

Più stupido che può essere

Ho detto, signor Manatee, sei intelligente

Ma prima che tu debba andare

Che abbiamo un molto sapore come te

Goditi ogni giorno

Prova un po' di terapia con la cernia

Oppure andare a navigare nella baia

Trascorri meno tempo in tutto quel traffico

Non andare ad alta velocità ovunque
