Atmavichara - Rudra

«I am» therefore let the enquiry begin!

The Self is the object to be known

The knower too is non-separate from the self

So who am I?

What am I?

All my knowledge fails to reveal what I am

My ignorance causes fear of the world and my mortality

I doubt my self-existence.

Is it or is it not?

The enquiry is in knowing what I am not

Am I the body or am I the mind?

Pain, pleasure, sorrow, tranquillity

All of which arises in me

I witness them all standing apart from them!

Not the body nor the breath

Not the ego nor the mind

In the waking I perceive the world

In the dream I create my world

In deep sleep, being blissfully ignorant

I destroy them all

Panchakoshaatiitah san avasthaa trayasaakshi

Saccidaananda svaroopah san yastishthati sa aatmaa»

Not part of the universe but it in me

In me it is yet I am not in it

Creation, sustenance and dissolution

I cause them all!!!

The one supreme is the I, like the eye of the eye

Existent in every thought, in every word and in every deed

Not an isolated experience but the only experience

I exist, I am aware, I am, I am-

Neither the body nor the breath!

Neither the ego nor the mind

All of which arises in me

I witness them all standing apart from them!

«Io sono» quindi che l'indagine abbia inizio!

Il Sé è l'oggetto da conoscere

Anche il conoscitore non è separato dal sé

Allora chi sono io?

Cosa sono?

Tutta la mia conoscenza non riesce a rivelare ciò che sono

La mia ignoranza provoca paura del mondo e della mia mortalità

Dubito della mia autoesistenza.

Lo è o non lo è?

La domanda è sapere cosa non sono

Sono il corpo o sono la mente?

Dolore, piacere, dolore, tranquillità

Tutto ciò sorge in me

Vedo che sono tutti separati da loro!

Non il corpo né il respiro

Non l'ego né la mente

Nella veglia percepisco il mondo

Nel sogno creo il mio mondo

Nel sonno profondo, essere beatamente ignoranti

Li distruggo tutti

Non fa parte dell'universo ma è in me

In me è ancora non ci sono

Creazione, sostentamento e dissoluzione

Li causo tutti!!!

L'unico supremo è l'io, come l'occhio dell'occhio

Esiste in ogni pensiero, in ogni parola e in ogni atto

Non un'esperienza isolata ma l'unica esperienza

Io esisto, sono consapevole, io sono, io sono-

Né il corpo né il respiro!

Né l'ego né la mente

Tutto ciò sorge in me

Vedo che sono tutti separati da loro!
