Inherit the Earth - Silent Planet

After the fire, after the rain

After the sacred kissed the profane —

When you came and left again

Such a captivating pain

After that night I left my comfort

To find where your body lies

I’d wander upon this grave then fall…

I’d fall inside

I searched the clearing for that spark

Hands sifted through the ash —

Knowing what we felt was real

But some delusions never pass.

So I took shelter in the woods

With the naked shaking trees:

Deciduous, fraternal twins

We’re both wilted, stem and leaf

Then the mist turned sleet into snow;

My senses shook numb, I’ve nothing to show

But a rain — stained book that once contained

My literary charades:

New blots of ink, archetypal shapes and shades

Bleed through each and every page.

And I ask myself:

What’s the weight of my life on the scales of eternity?

We inherit the earth, we inherit the war

I inhabit the wound, I dwell in the harm

Oh how far we fall: We’re casualties of time

Oh how far we fall: Begin to forgive existence

Retreat back from reaching trees

When a frigid shadow climbs inside of me —

That specter of recompense —

It’s a sound I’ve heard ever since

Amidst the endless mortal strife

And the constantly dying light

The truth we felt from the start:

«How can I hold myself together when everything falls apart?»

We inherit the earth, we inherit the war

I inhabit the wound, I dwell in the harm

Oh how far we fall: We’re casualties of time

Oh how far we fall: Forgive existence

I wandered upon the alter of human intervention

An exhibition of erudition

Find me here, Son of Man.

How far we fall…

Dopo l'incendio, dopo la pioggia

Dopo che il sacro ha baciato il profano -

Quando sei venuto e te ne sei andato di nuovo

Un dolore così accattivante

Dopo quella notte ho lasciato il mio comfort

Per trovare dove giace il tuo corpo

Vagherei su questa tomba e poi cadrei...

ci cadrei dentro

Ho cercato nella radura quella scintilla

Mani setacciate tra la cenere -

Sapere cosa sentivamo era reale

Ma alcune delusioni non passano mai.

Quindi mi sono rifugiato nel bosco

Con gli alberi nudi che tremano:

Gemelli decidui e fraterni

Siamo entrambi appassiti, stelo e foglia

Poi la nebbia si trasformò in neve;

I miei sensi tremavano insensibili, non ho nulla da mostrare

Ma una pioggia, un libro macchiato che un tempo conteneva

Le mie sciarade letterarie:

Nuove macchie di inchiostro, forme e sfumature archetipiche

Sanguinare attraverso ogni singola pagina.

E mi chiedo:

Qual è il peso della mia vita sulla bilancia dell'eternità?

Ereditiamo la terra, ereditiamo la guerra

Abito nella ferita, abito nel male

Oh fino a che punto cadremo: siamo vittime del tempo

Oh fino a che punto cadremo: inizia a perdonare l'esistenza

Ritirati dal raggiungere gli alberi

Quando un'ombra gelida si arrampica dentro di me...

Quello spettro di ricompensa —

È un suono che ho sentito da allora

In mezzo all'infinita lotta mortale

E la luce costantemente morente

La verità che abbiamo sentito dall'inizio:

«Come posso tenermi insieme quando tutto va in pezzi?»

Ereditiamo la terra, ereditiamo la guerra

Abito nella ferita, abito nel male

Oh fino a che punto cadremo: siamo vittime del tempo

Oh fino a che punto cadremo: perdona l'esistenza

Ho vagato sull'alter dell'intervento umano

Una mostra di erudizione

Trovami qui, figlio dell'uomo.
